Vibe Space Gate – 38,800 Watts of Thunder
by christock on Mar.23, 2007, under Prodcut & Tech Review

How much bass is too much? When the ground beneath your feet rumbles and you get a tingling feeling in your belly? Do you wait for the increasing pressure on your eardrums to build to an uncomfortable degree, your brain melts, or, until your frame is vibrating uncontrollably like someone having a fit?
At least that seems to be the goal of the Vibe Space Gate, an imposing demonstration unit from the car audio specialists, Vibe. There are 32 Space II subwoofers with 16 amps in this tunnel, helping to drive a head-popping 38,800 Watts of sound. I’m sot sure if people are actually allowed to stand in the tunnel since I’m pretty certain that deafening or killing potential customers is not the best sales pitch.
Still, with this much power, there’s every chance that once this baby kicks off, they’ll be pouring what’s left of you into a bucket.
You’ll be smiling, of course, but you’ll still be a puddle of goo. -Martin Lynch
You don’t say… I think it may just be able to burst a hole through my floor if I turn it LOUD enough mwahahhaha! *take that, you stupid neighbours!!*
Sashimi galore @ Hi Sushi, Soho
by christock on Mar.21, 2007, under Food Galore
What a way to end the term! The bunch of us: Charlotte, Wei Kiat, Hong Wee, Zhon Wei, Sulwyn, Chun Huey, Christina and Belinda May Tan decided to go for some good ol’ sashimi buffet! The plan was to try and gobble down anything we have and start calling more more salmon sashimi, which is by the way, free flow for 2 hours! (Yes, there’s a time limit boys and girls), and then settle in Edgware Road’s Shisha Cave where we had both shisha and goza, the latter being something of a hardcore even for Lebaneses! I’ll explain later, in the meantime, on with the pictures!
The buffet isn’t the normal kind of buffet you get in Malaysia or other places… It’s the kind where you request more of the free flow items, in which case we always chose the Salmon Sashimi (our favourite). We thought we did pretty well, but swore that the next time we come back, we’ll bankrupt the place haha! It’s at Soho guys, Hi Sushi, link here. With our stomaches full, we then proceeded to our shisha hangout!
I really want to put more pictures here but I think it’s really too much! haha.. Maybe I’ll put the rest on slideshow, then you can all see it
All in all the day was AWESOME and from then on, now starts the studying period and less of having fun. *right*
*lol*
By the way, UKEC Graduan Careers Fair coming up this weekend, have never been so excited cause meeting up with Air Asia’s CEO Dato Tony Fernandes as well as Standard Chartered’s CEO Brendon Hopkins! Check it out at www.ukeconline.com
Sheffield Games 2007
by christock on Mar.19, 2007, under Living Life
HOORAY! I’ve found an easy way to upload my pictures without going through them one by one… Required some good ol’ hacking into Lord Time’s modification of the ImageWiz’s multiple upload plugin for WordPress. I’m feeling proud of my abilities now, forgive me as I bath myself in limelight and glory. *shines*
Alrightey then, on with the games!! It was fun meeting lots of new people and playing in a football tourney with such a high level of competition… It was amazing! We were just unlucky that we had to face the eventual Champions, the Seven Kings, during Quarterfinals… but we were glad of our achievement, certainly a feat to remember

All was good with one of our friends winning 1st in the Chess Championships at the Games. Go Mahat!
All in all my trip to Sheffield was fun, fun and FUN! I almost met a few peeps I met through blogging in Sheffield, who are MuFFy and Sherve, but fate didn’t allow us to… meet hhaha.. Let me explain: MuFFy was apparently in the same bus as I was, and she noticed me while I was fiddling with my camera, but NOOOO she decided to ignore me, so sad! :’( Wherelse Sherve was also at the Gig, and probably while I was there too! It was just too bad we contacted each other too late (namely, after the event) so that’s that… hahaha! That’s it then!! *omg super long post wtf*
House Lovetimeeee

Dear readers,
I’m pleased to announce that once again Imperial has been very helpful to me this year. Applying for Hardship Fund was never an easy decision to make, as obviously there are people in need of the money more than me, and so, I’m never one who expects anything from my application eversince my first year attempt to do so. Fortunately for me, after the Board’s assessment of my situation which involves a whole complicated issue, I’ve been receiving funds from them amounting to about 800 pounds a year. The amount may seem negligible comparing to the hefty internation tuition fee totalling to about 17K pounds a year, but trust me, it really did put off a load of a burden from both mine and my parent’s chest.
This year was no exception: in fact, I’ve never been more surprised myself. Joanne Harding, the woman in charge of the Hardship Fund Trust, wanted to interview me again, which has never happened before. In two weeks time, I received a letter from her, stating:
- I was granted a total sum of £1,000 for the academic year 2006-2007
- I was granted a waive off the 4% instalment charge on my tuition fees for dual instalments, equivalent to about £700
Now that’s a whopping total of £1,700, and I’ve never been so shocked in my life. I’m very thankful to my personal tutors, my Senior Tutor Margaret Cunningham and Lynda White for their testimonies, my friends, ever supportive family and granduncle, and of course, God. This is truly a blessing, and with this I then spent my housemates a round of…. SUSHI!

Need I say more?
The event turned out to be quite a success! But before that I met up with my ex-committee members of the Anime Society, or what’s left of us hehe. We hanged out like the ol’ times, talking about weird stuff while heading towards an Iranian Restaurant recommended by our President himself, Sadegh! So the few of us including Kamilah (the guest member), Kishore (our PR guy) and The Swede (JohanNP) managed to bind together in our own secret little world….
