Bali’s Temples

by christock on Jun.27, 2008, under Events & Travels

Bali is full of ancient relics and has a very illustrious past, widely related to the Hindu religion which happens to be the main religion in this Island.
(otherwise how else would the all-time favourite food in Bali be… a babi?! lol)

Kenny and Icy walking through pathways leading to small, elaborated doors. This is one of the main attractions in Ubud, known as the Royalty’s residence.

<3

Mini temples like these are often seen everywhere in Bali. There are certain rules that has to be obeyed should you want to enter these sacred sites, such as:

  • Ladies who are having menstruation are disallowed from entering
  • All must wear decently, including sarongs to cover your legs (which are borrowed free)
  • I can’t remember the rest, too lazy to search :P

<3

Nearby the area, there’s the famed Ubud market, near where we ate our Babi Guling. You can get lots of beautiful paintings here for a decent price, some like the above. In fact, you can get almost EVERYTHING there but at the same time, damn headache la, those guys will either con you outright, or mob you til there’s no tomorrow. One super big advice is… ALWAYS GO 1/3 or 1/4 the starting price or REGRET forever!

<3

Whoops, got this picture upside down! Nah, hehe, we saw this real huge bat there and thought it looked cool. Makes me wanna watch the next Batman movie!
(I wanna throw rotten tomatoes at Joker, hate him wtf)

<3

There were many odd statues you will find in Ubud. Such is the heritage there that many carvers spend their time carving these out of stones, not to be sold, mind you, but just out of pure artistic fun. As you can see Cheeso and Kenny can’t help but poke fun at other country’s heritage. Tsk.

<3

But okla, fine, they weren’t the only one poking fun at those statues.
Guess what i did when I saw this one?

<3

I poked it :P

Holy Cow, I’m the King of the Jungle!

by christock on Jun.23, 2008, under Events & Travels

I’ve been an Iron Man before, during one of my OBS Hiking sessions. I’ve been dubbed a Stallion before, for reasons that I will not reveal here :P I’ve always been associated with a Rat for being able to eat everything under the sun. God knows I’ve been called a Pig countless of times by her.

thank you maxis!

But never have I been called the King of the Jungle, and in a freaking COW SUIT too, no less! Never, at least until last Saturday at Nuffnang’s Wild ‘Live’ Blogging Party. Notice that the event name itself is a pun. Wait, then again the title to this post is an even greater pun! Sigh why am I so punny. Ok la Nuffnang also very punny lol.

why hello my dearest pussy cat, the cow is your King ;)

So what’s the benefit of being the King of the Jungle, other than having a lioness as my Queen that seems to be “hungry” for me (in more ways than one from the looks of it)?  Well, whatever it is, it’s definitely worth at least RM4-5k! I kid you not, but there would be more on that later ;)

ooh behaaaaave!

On second thought, is the King of Jungle allowed to have a few lionesses as his queens? Cause if it is, I’d like to introduce to you my second Queen to you, Cheesie the Lioness. What’s with me and lionesses anyway?! I’m supposed to be a part of our Cow & Chicken team! If only my Chicken was a girl eh? :P

spinzer: coooooow?       JB: chiiiiickeeeeeeen?!?!?!!?

Oh and look who I met in the party?

Winnie the Pooh’s head got dislocated lol

Weird London

by christock on Jun.20, 2008, under Living Life

Following from the first of my series of what I’ll miss in London: the really whacky side of it.

Weird Scene #1: Saw this vehicle taking a stroll down the road from where I was having lunch. Single seater, burning red in colour, even the guy jaycrossing across the road cannot help but stare at it lol. Tell me what you think of it! lol

<3

Weird Scene #2: Walking from Euston station to my flat in Bridgeway, I’ll cross by this Transformation shop almost everyday and wonder to myself what sort of people would actually go in there… In fact, there was a time when *I* was interested to see if I could get free consultation and see what they can say about me haha! But of course I was too cowardly to do it… NOT THAT I WILL OK!

So do you already know what a Transformation shop is? ;)

<3

Weird Scene #3: This nostalgic room which I call home for only 5 months, since I was back in Malaysia for the rest of the year since end of January. Small-ish room gives the whole cozy feeling and there were many memorable moments in this little room of mine =)

Sigh…

<3

——————-

The rest of the pictures are things I was forced to say goodbye to, like…

#1: Krispy Kreme… Malaysia cepatlaaaaaa!!

<3

#2: The traditional phone booth (which looks awfully like Superman’s changing room) which will be demolished by the end of this year, due to graffiti abuse. Bai bai red booth of love :(

<3

#3: and finally bai bai to my beautiful housemates. THANK YOU for temaning me all the way and making me all emo ok. You guys made me remember the fun we had during our Christmas dinner together :( Our masyarakat majmuk will always remain as fond memories, spreading the muhibah-ness into people all around us. Ben, have a great graduation ceremony with your generation upon generations of your Indian family, and Aimran, I’ll be seeing you very soon dearie.

We’ll need to catch up on some shisha session :)

Jimbaran the Beach House

by christock on Jun.18, 2008, under Events & Travels

Jimbaran was where we had our most expensive meal, and since we keep our little booklet of accounts to record our expenditure, usually we have one person settling the bill first so that we don’t potong our stim by doing calculations to see how much each of us have to pay. So it just so happens that this time we went to this really, really beautiful restaurant at Jimbaran, and I offered to pay and had to fork out a whopping Rp600,000 for our sumptious meal.

!!!

That’s about RM200++!! Split between the four of us, that’s about RM50 la. Which, when you think about it, is really cheap since we had:

1) whole bbqed fish
2)
portions of belacan kangkung (or something liddat la)
3) deep-fried calimari rings (okay not like, 3 pieces, but a whole lot ok!)
4) whole bbqed chicken (extremely yummy according to Icy)
5) bbqed sting-ray
6) coconuts, cocktails, aqua and “arak”, which btw, is NOT the arak we know!

But of course if you compare it to other warong foodstuff we ate, it’s filthily expensive la hehe. Check it out at Kenny’s site.

And this is what we DON’T pay for: the great ambience eating out in the seaside… light winds rustling through your hair, the little sea-breeze damping your skin giving off a cooling effect. All this and not a single mosquito bite on your body nor finding sands creeping into your food makes eating here a truly blissful experience. And no, I’m not exaggerating here ;)

While testing for the correct lighting in this semi-dim romantica place, my model here agreed to pose which such enthusiasm that I also wanted to pose along. Aiya, what to do la when you put two camwhores together. Oh wait I didn’t just admit to being a camwhore did I?

I am NOT a camwhore. However, I am a self-proclaimed CAMPIMP. Campimps and camwhores are mutually exclusive, btw, as I will explain below:

Why? Because while camwhores take photos of themselves because they think they’re really gorgeous and the world should bow to their awesomeness.
I, for one, do not believe in such atrosity!

For me, I love taking pictures of people, sceneries and weird objects. Yes, I really do mean weird-looking objects. But since whenever I go around with my camera taking photos, everyone else naturally assumes that I’m THEIR photographer hence reducing the need for them to take pictures themselves. Now, I’m sure many of you have experienced this before.

So how do you deal with it?

You take pictures of yourselves of course! No one take for me I take myself la right! Makes sense right? You know I know la lolol.

ANYWAY!

me, kenny, cheeso & icyqueengoddess – stolen pic

The four of us could hardly finish what we ordered. We were even thinking of getting lobster as it as really cheap there, but thankfully we didn’t, seeing that it was more than enough for us. Coming from both fat-asses Kenny and me, it’s definitely a lot okay!

Enjoy the rest of the pictures. with captions of course :)

On an open-shutter shot, showing neighbouring restaurants and mostly tourists from Europe, Australia & Japan

The serenading group that I was so awed with that I gave them a tip of Rp50,000 by accident, to which the others retorted as “silly” and commented that “they can pack up now and go home happy cos some dumb tourist gave them a day’s worth of work”.. Idiots! come on la guys at least we were happy ok!

and finally, this happens to be the entrance of this particular restaurant that we went to. I am standing where the taxi dropped us of (and that taxi, with its driver of course, is an entire different story altogether!) and this is the awesome view we got, together with the staff greeting us as if we were some royalties, welcoming us with… well, delicious welcome cocktails, gratis!

Needless to say, we truly had an amazing time at Jimbaran. I wouldn’t mind having another orgasmic explosion right here again, any time at all ;)

my english breakfast

the gorgeous cat outside my house

pret-a-manger’s lovely chicken mango sandwich, of course losing only to our favourite, the crayfish & rocket sandwich that I almost managed to bring home if I didn’t accidently left it in the toilet on my second flight home. stoopid, stoopid Tock! Le sigh.
