Kushi Q, Auto-Grill place @ Tropicana City Mall
by christock on Sep.28, 2009, under Food Galore
www.kushi-q.com/ – The first Auto-griller restaurant I’ve heard of, and so far from feedbacks I derived through friends and floggers, is really very decent, if not good
Many thanks to Ken for the invitation!
No tax, no surcharge, just the way I like it. So tip if you want, their service is great!
Jessica the lifestyle blogger does her thing
I went inside and took shots of the actual grilling… Too bad I’m not a fan of lady’s fingers. Are you?
Some of the selections that are saliva-inducing!
Even makes you want to claw your way in from the outside (exactly what Jess is doing lol!)
So this is how they hook up the raw, marinated food into the machine! Damn I wanna taste the sauces that are falling
Just take a look at how the Auto-griller machine works!
If you’re lazy to see the video, these pictures may suffice!
You’d be burnt in here
So what do we have? the Cold Octopus dish, yummy!
My fav seaweed!
Chillified mushrooms!
OH THESE JAPANESE FISHCAKES ARE DAMN SMOOTH AND YUMMY!
Go Hawaii with this kebab made of Beef and Pineapple!
Beef Balls. Need I say more?
GRILLED Octopi
The selection you could have if you visit Kushi Q!
Well marinated chicken pieces… omg..
A break from all those salivating food- this is how food bloggers – floggers – work! Those who were there include Big Boys Oven, FoodPoi, Jessica, Wilson, the Witch and Christine
We had cold Udon as well
Chicken bits with Mayo and Mentaiko.. yummm
Salad. Fresh.
RICE SAUCE AND Half-boiled egg yumz!
For desserts you have a selection of ice creams. I love the fish one, vanilla coated with red beans!
Just a picture of the girls to make this post appetizing hahahah!
Well I hope I managed to convince you people to go visit Kushi Q! It’s been certainly a great experience, and it’s HALAL too! Visit it at Tropicana City Mall, at the Lower Ground floor which you can’t really miss

Meeting the Black Eyed Peas in Malaysia!
by christock on Sep.26, 2009, under Events & Travels
Call it whatever you want but being made a Lumix Shutterbug has been the best thing that ever happen in my life, as far as being a blogger and active social media user is concerned! Thanks to it I could use my Lumix G1 when I really needed it, take for example, when I was invited to the press conference for Arthur’s 250th Birthday night directly via the event’s PR consultant, thanks Grey!
After inviting Yapthomas.com and Hanson, my awesome ‘blogger’ friend (inside joke, lol) we were whisked to KL Hilton at 4.30pm where some 70-odd numbers of the media were present, all waiting for the arrival of the stars who certainly took their time!
I spotted a few familiar faces including my good friend Azri from Universal Studios, Elaine Chow from Grey, Kimcun and ShaolinTiger, last but not least Mr Arthur Guinness Himself. Of course I got to know a few other people as well to work with my projects, it was really good fun!
Having my G1 allowed me to go to places that I don’t usually dare if I only had my Lumix LX2, including going so close to them. Throughout the time I could never explain the luck I felt within me
A press conference, or a media conference, after all, isn’t something easy to have in the first place. This really shows that whatever little branding I managed to do for myself really does work! Come on bloggers, you have the power!
Yes, power, like this Mr Arthur Guinness wannabe aka Kenny Sia who really did take everyone’s attention. No wonder he’s Malaysia’s number one lifestyle blogger eh? Bloody daring I say!
And this shot is for all Fergie fans out there. I was still considering a dare from a friend to ‘do’ something with her that will surely put me up in many magazines all around the world. But I chickened out
No wonder I not fehmes laaaaaa hehe
But to be honest, all you have to do is believe in yourself. I thought I’ve gotten my tickets to Arthur’s birthday yesterday night already, a week before the event itself. But I did not, and thankfully, did not waver and be desperate. The next thing I know, I killed two birds with one stone: a call from the PR asked me to attend the media conference, at the same time offering me a Media All-Access pass for the night! I don’t know what garnered the call, or why me, but I’d like to be appreciative and say THANK YOU!
And so, it was a perfect start to the evening that was about to come, a live performance from the Black Eyed Peas who were totally rocking the event with their top hits that EVERYONE can sing along to. It was truly an awesome night, which deserves its own post, surely.
I love you Black Eyed Peas. I may still be too shy to come forward for a picture, so this is the least I could do for now haha. Now, I’ve got a feeling, that tonight’s gonna be a good night, that tonight’s gonna be a good night, that tonight’s gonna be a good GOOD night!

So who’s with me? Stay tuned for the ALL ACCESS MEDIA PASS pictures! /gloats
ps- sorry for the obsessive gloating, it isn’t often that I get something like this on my lap hehe
pss- for more pictures please go to my facebook album!
Pimp my ride: Done the DIGI way
by christock on Sep.24, 2009, under Prodcut & Tech Review
Most of you have already seen postings of PimpMyBroadband by other bloggers and twitterers, an initiative by Digi Broadband to allow consumers to share their thoughts, or rather, rants on the current broadband situation. I believe it’s a brave call by them, consumer-based brands are by far too afraid to stand up and try their best to meet up to the service standards that they promised to us. Also before this, there hasn’t been any united call for changes to be done for our broadband services, let alone most complaints are done anonymously due to a certain fear that most Malaysians can identify with: the lack of protection for those who voice out their opinions.
Well I believe with Digi’s Pimp My Broadband campaign, along with such marketing brilliance to provide freebies such as free monthly usage of Digi Broadband (for a fixed amount of time I suspect
), has managed to answer all the problems listed above. This time, we are hearing from REAL entities, with REAL experience and best of all, comes from a source that will not be able to control pictures, stories or videos that participants will be uploading for the this campaign.
This means that Digi has managed to give voice to broadband consumers in Malaysia, a real step ahead of their competitors who I feel delivered a few low blows in a bid to acquire clients from rivals. One notable example is Streamyx’s advert in Fly.FM’s radio channel which implied they beat their fellow “yellow” rivals in a boxing match.
If you ask for nothing, you get nothing. This is a chance for you to join your fellow friends and family in a bid to hasten our technology progression to at least Singapore’s standards. Korea and Japan are light years ahead of us already in terms of broadband speed and reach, so let’s not even get there. Let’s get heard, and get heard in style.
All you contestants just need to do is:
1. put up a blog entry with either video, or just a regular one with pictures, telling us why you want to pimp your broadband
2. link to pimpmybroadband.com.my (like so
)
3. Submit the entry on pimpmybroadband.com.my, and get your friends to vote for you!
Once that happens, YOU stand to win 6 laptops (including a macbook air, and a macbook pro), and free DiGi broadband subscriptions. Now how cool is that for an incentive?
We all start somewhere, and I’m glad to say, at least Digi has taken the next step in taking into account our interest as consumers of the internet
(ps- follow Digi via Twitter here!)

Review on WindowSeat for the iPhone 2G/3G/3GS
by christock on Sep.16, 2009, under Prodcut & Tech Review
Presenting my newest toy, the all new (to me lah) WindowSeat Mount for your iPhone 2G/3G/3GS!
I was always looking around for some kind of mounter for the iPhone because it seems to fly everywhere whenever I start charging it in my car via the Cig Lighter socket. After many unsuccessful searches I stumbled upon this at Pavilion!
The packaging was attractive, and they delivered everything they promised from the description outside the box! This one here is an assembled version, which I already did back at the shop.
Otherwise it would have came in their own packaging so that nothing gets scratched. As you can see, they even provide an audio cable for your iPhone to your car speaker system, something pretty hard to find okay?
What you see here is my iPhone 2G attached to the mount. They have 2 other kind of mounts meant for the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS. Apart from that there’s an extender in case one needs to use it. One other thing to note is that they not only have glass mounter but a ground mounter as well!
This is how it looks like on my car, it’s so amazing that I can turn it from potrait into landscape with just a flick of my hand!
This is how it looks from behind, with the extension on (otherwise it’s just 2 levels ). What’s amazing is that you can find all these things packed in the box that came with it.
Watch as I play with it in the video above. I believe it is a really good buy (especially cause it came with the sound cable) for just over RM100 (i think! gotta check again lol)
Honey Barbequed Pork Ribs @ Jalan Angsoka, KL
by christock on Sep.13, 2009, under Food Galore
Did that tickle your taste buds? It should. Vegetarian, non-halal, whichever background you come from, if these pictures don’t make you salivate (you don’t have to eat it, right?
) then there’s something wrong with your tastebuds. Or should I say, eyes. lol.
Anyway presenting one of the best places to eat Honey Barbequed Pork Ribs, among others such as Char Siew, Siu Yoke etc. I know I know, you’re gonna ask isn’t Tengkat Tong Shin there the best place for these delicacies? My answer: PRICE. I will not pay for overpriced good food, simply because I think honesty is best preserved in the food business.
You do not cut your valued customer’s throats, in ANY segment. As far as the food industry is concerned, this applies as well. Well, here in Jalan Angsoka, KL, you’ll get good pricing as well as tasty, yummy dishes! Even looking at these pictures again makes me want to grab my computer screen and take a bite off it.
Of course Roast Chicken and Duck are also served here, as with many stalls of similar kind. Tender meat, tasty duck, all goods and passes with no complains from me.
Maybe something else worth trying is the rice and sauce. I have something with rice and sauces, as in back then in London, I used to go Four Seasons to have multiple rice portions eaten with just the sweetish sauce, without any meat! Well in this case it was worth doing the same, I really loved the sauce here, goes so well with the meat. As for the rice, I love it that it’s not too butterily tasty, just enough to give the dash of aroma complementing the delicacies spread before me.
Veggies are plentiful as well. We decided to go for sour & spicy veggie that was served piping hot. Unfortunately it wasn’t that tasty, nor spicy or sour, a little unimpressive if you ask me. Must try other veggie dishes maybe when I’m back here again.
This review was made available thanks to Jason Sim, my buddy. His pictures can be found here and the way to get here is also really easy coming from Pavilion or Wisma Genting, Raja Chulan Monorail station. One just needs to get to the Istana Hotel and head around it to find this large tree behind Hotel Istana, and that’s where you will find this little chicken rice stall
