Agong's Birthday + Leavers Day

Last month there were a few events that I couldn’t blog about, well, because I was just plain busy. Don’t believe? I’ll let you know why in the next post AHAHAHA… yeah that’s right, that’s to keep you coming back for moreee! At least, that’s what I would like to think la, so don’t any of you tell me that no one bothers to visit anyway, or I’ll come hunt you down in M’sia when I get back… which incidently falls on the 17th July, just so you know and prepare for my red carpet entrance πŸ˜€

Basically to keep things short and sweet (for preparation to a series of episodes coming up with lots of pictures – yes Aimran, screw your nose), I was invited to the Agong’s birthday celebration at the Malaysia House, where the High Commisioner of UK lives, and before that I was at the Leaver’s Party organized by the Imperial Malaysian Society.

Mr Revi Pillay was the man who has been supporting me since 2 years ago… and there he is beside me, alongside VIPs like the Malaysian Hall Director, UMNO UK President Dzariman, prominent businessmen like Uncle Teddie and even the Special Secretary to the High Commissioner.

The party was mostly attended by a lot of people older than me, ranging from professionals to diplomats from all over the UK. It was really interesting, I got to speak to some of the people there to do important networking, and needless to say there were loads of free Malaysian food for grabs. Sounds heaven-ish? You bet!

The Graduating Idiots

This batch will now finally be splitted up, some going home to pursue their dreams, some staying to gain experience, some going to study again for their Masters *shockness!!* and the rest will be bumming around doing nothing =P We all have a thing in common though… for we carry each other’s memories and we will try never to forget the bonds forged throughout the 4 years we’ve been together through thick and thin… But ah let’s not get too carried away because it isn’t time for graduation party yet… which normally occurs on the 25th of October (remember this?)

Coming Up!

This isn’t the Fun Fair, but something called the Centenary Ball which celebrates Imperial College‘s 100 years of excellence and held in conjunction with the Annual Summer Ball! Coming up next πŸ˜€

Birmingham Trip

Problem with posting is that there are so many pictures that tell a story, with none of them redundant! Tell you what, this is what I’m going to do: I will be posting non-stop to catch up with what I’m currently doing, else I’ll always be stuck with this blardy post full of pictures!

Format? Pictures followed by captions. Pictures followed by captions. Pictures followed by captions. Comprendo senor?

Now none of you will be able to complain that it’s not updated. And Val, I don’t think I want to compete in your “Who’s not updating their blog for the longest time” title hahaha! Damn mo liu laarrrr >P

On our one night trip to Birmingham… and no, there’s nothing going on between us if anyone’s asking!

This is the toilet control button. If I wasn’t careful enough someone would press the open button from outside, and the door is automatic so I’ll be caught in an unwanted situation >.<

The two ladies, Vicky and Hong Lee posing with the family of ducks waiting for us at the Train Station =P

We proceeded to Cadbury World, where even the grasses are made of chocolate… NOT!

Posing with them are the Chocolate Doctors, who make sure the Cadbury chocolate we eat are as delicious as… sushi? hehe

Here we are posing at Cadbury’s huge logo! Too bad we missed the Exhibition where we can see chocolate covered EVERYTHING :'( Will be coming back soon!

That’s right, me new sunglasses. For Ibiza. Which was hot btw, can’t wait to show pictures! πŸ˜€

To continue with our Birmingham trip, we went to the Bull Ring where we met this bull. Needless to say I was turned on by it =P

I love this picture… Many balls in one area hehe..

The infamous Debenham’s store front… It’s a wonderful work of art, and it inspired a few photoshoots in the continuing link *wink*

Yiing Ting's Birthday @ Fifteen's

For Yiing Ting’s birthday this year, we’ve decided to do it a month before the real day AGAIN, as you would recall it was the same for last year at Brighton. But instead of the plush stoney beach and pretty sunny seafood, we decided to do something a little more classy and sent ourselves instead to the doorsteps of Fifteen, a restaurant started by Jamie Oliver meant to help underpriviledged chefs… Does this mean I am eligible to apply to train there too? πŸ˜›

We had the Taster Menu, which costed a whopping 60 pounds, but I thought all in all we had great food, great atmosphere and even better service from the elite waiters and waitresses there! Anyhow, once again we shall let the pictures do their thing! (Once again, click on the pictures to enlarge!)

The Menu looks impressive enough, and the choices for the meals are quite decent and full of variety!

A glance around gives a classy feeling, and rightly so as we were dressed up for the occasion =D

The Starter: Italian herb bread with Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar dressing and pickled whole Olives.

James and Mel from LSE makes 2 of the 9 who attended this celebration.

Tell me if the setting doesn’t whet your appetite and I swear I’ll take you here to experience it!

Focaccia from ‘The Flour Station’
Mixed salumi flavoured with cherry, truffle, saffron and porcini

Left: Kimberly, Yiing Ting, Sonia
Right: Vinoth, Ka Shing, Boon Wy (aka Jon =P)

Pinkish cocktail menu makes the ladies very happy lol

Pre-Prima Course: – They surprised us with this, one spoon each of course… it was surprisingly yummy!
A spoonful of Scallop with
1) Ginger 2) Promogrenade juice 3) A hint of lemon 4) Olive oil 5) Coriander leaf 6) What else?

Starters:
Bruschetta of freshly picked Devonshire crab with crunchy celery, brown crab dressing and fennel tops

Verdict: The sweet meat of the crab flown from Devonshire could only be paired by the dressing, which made a sweet, tantalising combination.

Yet another starter:
Buccleuch beef tartare with radish salsa, wild rocket leaves and shaved pecorino
The Verdict: The raw beef which had a scent of sweetness coupled with strong flavours from the rocket leaves leaves nothing to imagination…

Prima Dish:
Risotto with Clams, Mussels and assorted others

Secondi Dish:
Shoulder of Welsh lamb with marinated aubergine, braised spinach and wild garlic pesto
The Verdict: An interesting experience, the lamb was perfectly cooked within the tasty skin, giving an explosive orgasmicly-induced sensation when chewed.

Of course, the birthday girl should be feature too hehe… HAPPY BIRTHDAY YT!

Dessert:
Vanilla panna cotta with honey roasted plums and shortbread. Sweeet!

The birthday girl and the lot of us were suprised when the waiter came out with this surprise, with candle somemore!
So tell me, how good is their service when we didn’t even request for this? πŸ˜€

Dessert:
Amalfi lemon tart with lime syrup and yoghurt – Sinfully sweet (though it doesn’t look as good as Val’s cake!)

A choice of two cheeses (Goat and Burbuu), served with Medjool dates, lingue di suocera and fresh chutney
Perfect finishing for cheese lovers.. like me =P

Look at all those faces of contentment… lol… they let us stay till past 12am, so accomodating…

Suffice to say our trip to Fifteen turned out better than expected… Now, wipe those drool of your face, they look disgusting! Hahaha… well then, I guess I’m off to my last presentation in Imperial, do wish me luck, and before I go let me post this picture the last time I was at Fifteens (this was my second time)… AH CANNoT find la next time la okok can?!

And next up I promise you, Agong’s birthday & Birmingham trip #1!!!

You know you're addicted when…

… you get Facebook requests as long as this…

So many application requests! It’s going crazy I tell you… but I may just join in the developing fun and create something cool =P

… you delete a bunch of anime and find yourself suddenly freeing 8 gigs worth of disk space, and when you defrag your disk you get something like this:

The whole chunk of space in the “before” analysis was where my anime was kept…
you can see what happened after it was deleted and fragmented… can’t believe I had THAT much of anime =P

… you find yourself conversing on posted photos, like this…

We’re not lame… just… plain bored =P

Birmingham Night Out
