Sparkling Time at Red Communications Star-studded 12th Anniversary Party

First off congratulations to Red Communications for their successful birthday bash, it was really fun hanging out with media personalities, behind-the-scenes celebrity directors, writers, producers, and all the different people that make up the team responsible for producing Malaysia’s finest productions for the last decade or so!

And for inviting me to be part of your celebration as well. It felt good to be treated like a VIP even though I am not familiar with all of them. To me, it was really a star-studded adventure as I stumble into Malaysian personalities I’d never thought I’d meet in real life, ever! 😀

Didn’t dress as well as I’d like but I will be more ready next time (yes, already looking forward to your 13th bash haha!). Hopefully by that time I’d have a beautiful date to teman me too huhu #foreveralone

In any case let’s record the mini-adventure I had that night, and after that show you what else the celebration has to offer all of you in this 3-day long party.

It started with the celeb spotting session right outside the Black Box of Publika. Photogs and videographers were shooting at night, looking frantically for their “target” and shooting them at will. It was heaven for a lot of the media people lol.

our photographs would be taken in front of their striking red background where the number 12 was proudly displayed. There were a few objects to be held as well, and as you noticed I was holding the number 12 placard like this man here 😉

[flickr id=”7953606676″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Inside the venue various billboards were on display showing productions that the Red team has produced together with the talents, directors, writers all involved. It was great to see the amount of amazing talents in all these shows gathering in this one night – spectacular even!

[flickr id=”7953606468″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

This is me with Lina, one of the bosses of Red Comms (if I’m not wrong!) and since everyone went to congratulate her, I’d figured that I’d do it too. If she is, then I really respect her and her team for taking Red Comms through 12 wonderful years (as can be seen by the showreel they displayed for us). Kudos!

[flickr id=”7953606298″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

To describe to you how I felt when I noticed Ah Niu was just a few steps besides me will probably go like this “!@#$!@$!@$!%!”. Yes it was indescribable! This man has been sort of a hero to me as a Malaysian who has sang and acted all around Asia, even with his unassuming good looks (ahem) and very, very friendly personality!

I couldn’t help but to ask if I could have him on our #SPARCSeries and on principle he agreed, now all we need is to seal the deal! OMG! Exciting right 😀

[flickr id=”7953605886″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Then of course how could you miss these two out – Kuah Jen Han (@kuahjenhan) and Jehan Miskin (@jehanmiskin) standing together, their names almost identical to each other LOL. Seriously good looking lah these two, I wish I had their genes 🙁

[flickr id=”7953606116″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Our three lovely ladies as the hosts for tonight’s party, and one Red Dragon member who played as the DJ of the night, blasting off awesome music as the night went on!

[flickr id=”7953605732″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

The people who made it happened! Thank you Marina Mahathir (@netrakl) for introducing me to all your friends, otherwise I wouldn’t have known a lot of them! Yes, that’s how little my knowledge is in this entertainment scene… Luckily I had…

[flickr id=”7953605364″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

… my good friend @SultanMuzaffar to help me out. In the end he become my source of dictionary, pointing me out to who’s who, and thanks to that I now know about the behind-the-scenes people who are normally not exposed to all of us normal guys haha. Thanks mang, I owe you one!

[flickr id=”7953605556″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Of course I just had to bump to Albert, my partner-in-crime as we searched about looking for other famous people haha. One of them includes @LisaSurihani, who remains gorgeous as ever with that sweet personality of hers 🙂

[flickr id=”7953605142″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Can you guess who they are? 😀

[flickr id=”7953604504″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

And these are the amazing men and women who do all the background work. Actors and actresses love these people to bit because they turned them into who they are today. Let’s cheers for these unsung heros!

[flickr id=”7953604912″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Towards the end, I actually noticed this guy getting and sending greetings to almost EVERYONE in the party, and I kept wondering to myself: who the heck was he? It wasn’t until then that I was told he’s the director of Puteri Gunung Ledang, yes, the legendary Saw Teong Hin! Of course I didn’t waste any time to greet him 😀

[flickr id=”7953604716″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

Really it was all thanks to June, my fellow Imperial College alumni member who also happens to be very humble yet respected in this scene, to guide me around. I didn’t know anyone see, and it was her who did the introductions to many of them, including Ah Niu himself. So proud to know her :’)

[flickr id=”7953604168″ thumbnail=”medium_640″ overlay=”true” size=”medium_640″ group=”” align=”none”]

All in all I had a fantabulous time with everyone, made new friends and cherished old ones (like Vince Chong etc); all thanks to the guys at Red Communications. You guys are AMAZING and here’s hoping for more projects between us at @SocialGrooves! THANK YOU and CONGRATS AGAIN!

PS please find below other programs you can join tomorrow: the last day of this 3 day party 🙂

Join me at the 2nd Installment of Global Art of Mixing Trilogy 2012 – Hennessy Artistry is back in KL!

Yo party people! Many told me that they cannot imagine me partying in my black suit and pants (too used to see me being formal, maybe?!) and I reassured them that back in the days of London, yours truly had a life of his own in all major parties in London, LOL! In any case, after being on a party hiatus for a long time (no thanks to work!), I’m now back for Hennessy Artistry 2012, after my first at 2010, and second one last year, pre and post!
And it’s going to happen on the 8th of September (that’s one week from now!). Yeap, Hennessy Artistry is finally back to the heart of Kuala Lumpur for the second installment of 2012’s Global Art of Mixing Trilogy (I missed the first one in Penang last June) and it’s going to take place at Level 15 KWC Kuala Lumpur, promising an electric mix and a phenomenal super-clubbing experience on 8 September 2012.

Hennessy Artistry @ Level 15, KWC Kuala Lumpur – 8th September 2012

What’s gonna happen there? We’ll be treated to a mix of world-class music and the trademark H-Artistry atmosphere, while seasoned H-Artistry enthusiasts (like me :P) and new initiates alike will be blown away by a revamped Hennessy Art of Mixing Zone featuring the Hennessy 360 Cam, as well as other interactive party elements! Well, we’ll also enjoy our favorite Hennessy V.S.O.P. long drinks at the Hennessy Mixing Bars that serves Hennessy Apple (my fav!), Hennessy Berry, Hennessy Ginger and Hennessy Soda. There will be few gorgeous Hennessy Artistry ambassadors stationed at the bar that will be happy to demonstrate the ease of mixing your favorite signature Hennessy V.S.O.P. long drinks too, which I know where all the guys will be at 😉
Various Hennessy drinks
Gorgeous Hennessy Artistry Ambassadors
Last June, there were some awesome artists like Lollipop F, Andy Moor, Suki Low, Ernest C and Ramsey Westwood that I missed out on. This time around, Hennessy Artistry will be headlined by international vocal powerhouse and EDM (electronic dance music) siren Eva Simons, Jakarta’s cult-status DJ Angger Dimas, as well as Kuala Lumpur’s fast-rising electronic dance nu-breeds B.A.T.E. (Brain And The Eye). The night will charge on till the end with the hard-hitting, hipster-worshipped duo Mr.Nasty & GuruGuru (a.k.a. Bass Agents).
Eva Simons – She’ll be rocking my socks with EDM!

Eve Simons (Netherlands)

Headlining H-Artistry this September at KWC KL, Dutch vocal powerhouse and EDM siren Eva Simons as come a long way since her beginnings. Back in 2009, Eva Simon’s track entitled “Silly Boy” started to gain popularity on the internet and received attention from the likes of Kanye West. Bolstered by this initial success, Simons went on to sign a worldwide record deal at EMI, which led to even more notable records from her up to mid-2010. This was when Eva Simons & Mike Hamilton (also known as the writing team Topline Ink) wrote the song “Take Over Control”.
In 2011, Eva Simons went on to sign another major record deal in the US and was featured on LMFAO’s track, “Best Night”, subsequently joining the Los Angeles party rocking duo on their “Sorry for Party Rocking” tour. In addition, Simons has also collaborated with will.i.am on tracks for his upcoming solo album. Oh! I love the song “This is Love” by Will.i.am ft Eva Simons!

Angger Dimas

Angger Dimas (Indonesia)

Hailing from Jakarta, 24 year old Angger Dimas is the epitome of young DJ-ing talent from around the region. Commanding an underground cult following in the party scene of South East Asia’s largest etropolis, Dimas started out young by picking up the guitar at the tender age of 7. His pursuit of creating electronic dance music (EDM) began 3 years ago when he debuted his DJ-ing career in 2009. In a short span of time, Dimas’ talent landed him a record deal with Australia’s mighty Vicious Recordings in early 2009. Dimas went on to spend the rest of his early years fine-tuning his craft, making a huge impact not only in Jakarta’s thriving club scene, but also amongst international electro house / EDM heavyweights such as Laidback Luke and Steve Aoki.
Dimas’ debut release “Duck Army” has been played by the likes of Tocadisco, Joachim Garraud and Laidback Luke, while another Dimas track entitled “She Got It” was dropped by Sebastian

The Tale of the Stinky Socks and How you can overcome it

So one day I always wondered why socks smell the way they do, whatever you do despite how “clean” you try to be. So I asked around about how this strange phenomenon came about.

Instead, I got a reply on how to “avoid” having stinky socks. Not sure if I need them, but in case you do, here ya go!

  1. Never wear covered shoes w/o socks.
  2. If you wear rubber covered shoes (ie disgusting crocs) that look weird with socks, then you have to wash them every time after a long day out with them. Stop buying crocs. They make feet stink.
  3. Buy shoe deodarants for your shoes. And foot deo for your feet. Scholl has some. After some time and my feet no longer stank this was no longer required. But in the beginning, spray deo helps. Daily.
  4. Till now, after wearing covered shoes, I always air them. If they smell, even a little, I wash them.
  5. Never re-wear socks. Ever.
  6. Even if they don’t smell, I make sure to wash my everyday slippers once every few months.
  7. Scrub your feet EVERYDAY with a pumice stone and nail scrub. I’m not kidding. Even though I have ugly feet, my pedicurists love my feet cos they know I take care of ’em.
  8. Initially, if feet stink extra bad, soak in hot water then scrub with pumice stone n nail brush.

The angel who sent me this followed ALL of the above steps for at least 1-2 years. After that she slowly dropped off the habits.

Now, she hardly scrub her feet, hardly wash her shoes.

She basically only need to make sure to at least rinse her feet with water everytime she step into any house.

If you’ve read this far, hope your stinky problems go away soon. >:-)
