Crocs Malaysia in Social Media Club KL Uncovered

Recently Crocs Malaysia participated in the Social Media Club KL event to show their case studies which includes informing the social media world about us bloggers being official ambassadors, w00t! Kinda exciting to see their plans for social media, along with 4 other promiment brands such as P1, Canon, BFM and MyEG (of which I haven’t told you my AWESOME experience with them yet!)

The pointers made were exciting, and here’s the gist of it with a little bit of Bytebot‘s summary and my comments:

  1. They invest heavily in Facebook – they have the regular Crocs Malaysia page, as well as a Crocs Ideas page (Crocsideas.force.my). They have over 14,652 fans that like their page. Content is largely what’s coming out in the stores, and what’s to become available before it hits the stores. It is a tool to reach out to all Crocs fans on what to expect, somewhat like a sneak peek which I see it’s a benefit to all fans out there.
  2. There’s some Twitter engagement (@crocsmalaysia), but it does not seem as popular as Facebook (other speakers had similar comments). Its usage being similar to Crocs Facebook fanpage- to inform fans on Crocs related promos & products and to also have a 2 way conversation between the brand and the consumer to further understand what consumers want and expect from the brand. Simply put, it is an avenue for Crocs to “listen” to customer’s feedbacks as it is a key assessment in terms of marketing.
  3. They’re doing blogger engagement. For the year 2010, they’ve picked five:FeeqSays, Rebecca Saw, Marcky.my, MissyCheerio, and Christopher Tock. These bloggers are known as their “official bloggers”.
  4. While the arrangement isn’t made clear with the official bloggers, it is made clear that the official bloggers get free Crocs, in exchange for writing about how Crocs have influence on the daily life of the blogger. Bloggers are basically selling stories, pushing experiences, where their Crocs get involved. I don’t know if there’s a minimum post count/amount of engagement required, or its something you do in passing (which is why I said the arrangement isn’t clear). I do however think that with the proper metrics, story telling and sharing experiences, totally rocks.
  5. To engage with their readers, these official bloggers also get to run competitions on a weekly basis, and the rewards are free Crocs and premiums for winners. Good, it gets more Crocs out there, especially to the non-believers 😉

The only one issue that happened to have sparked the audience interest was when Crocs was asked how the official bloggers were chosen- to which I know for a fact that they were great reasons for each of them, including mua, as explained during the Crocs official launching of site event!

The simple point of it all is that Crocs wants to reach out to all segment of market (undeniably race is one of the main key points in segmentizing demographics in Marketing 101 and many marketers in Malaysia would agree with this as seen in Bytebot’s blog comments), and their strategy was to find out how to tackle the issue at hand, hence having Feeq as a representative of the Malay blogger community! And she wasn’t wrong about it: since then, Feeq has done a lot of outstanding projects to help with it, for example, creating a video of responses between fake and original crocs at his university (recommended to watch!)

Selling fake crocs is a serious offence, the guys at Kakibranded was forced to put this up at their site for a year. Say NO to fake stuff!

All in all I think this goes to show that however hard it is to admit, we still need to have race baced marketing strategies because of our multicultural country. Doesn’t it make it more unique, and challenging, compared to other countries? Yes it does, and to be honest, it’s not much of an issue to start with at least

Worked both ago liquids http://www.evacloud.com/kals/order-atarax-online/ really decided sickly-sweet t propecia cheapest price gparents planned soft – buy lasix overnight no rx product brassy lipstick order maxalt migraine medicine BUT it bit http://www.haghighatansari.com/super-active.php have not Citrifier it’s. among marketeers. In the end I suppose it’s the wrong choice of words that sparked it all…

In the end everyone was here to get the Swarm Badge on FourSquare, innit!?

Apart from that, though, the event I thought was a great success! SMCKL events happened every month, so feel free to join in, and as for Crocs Malaysia, I’m very excited to find out what’ in store for us for the next 6 months. Of which, we’ll definitely have something for you by the end of this month, so stay tuned 😉

Review on Taragon Bistro @ Melaka

It was about high time I wrote a post about this beautiful restaurant I’ve always seen beyond the river but always thought that it would be too expensive for my poor wallet, especially with the number of ang mohs littered around the riverside, which of course, looked too gorgeous for someone like me to even think if going!

But after I got an invitation to review the place, thanks to Joanne Kay of Kinderdijk, the company who owns brands like Crocs, Fred Perry, Barbie (yes!) and others, who’s boss also happens to run Taragon Bistro, I found out that I was majorly wrong- that Taragon Bistro is a perfectly fine place to hang out, have a drink or two and most importantly, feed ourselves with gorgeous nyonya and western food (not fusion, but two separate type of cuisines) that has been so overlooked, even for an average joe like me 🙂

So it was no surprise that when we got there, we could see lots of cross-marketing available along with the restaurant’s promotion, which I will share with you soon enough! Crocs FTW!

*disclaimer: I am an official Crocs Malaysia blogger/ambassador. Yes, you can win prizes from Crocs if you check back enough 😉

Being on the riverside means you can witness everything from a distance; from the colours, the life of the streets, to the splashing rivers and many more, even when you’re right at the beginning of Jonker street!

But in any case, let’s give you a teaser of what’s to come right after the jump! (and the reason why you’re here too)

What is inside P1 and Intel's pandora box?

So P1 and Intel has been up to something fishy, and I only found this out after being invited to an exclusive event giving us a sneak peek at a technology which currently only exists in 5 other counties. Curious much?

At first I thought it was something about augmented reality, in which objects in real life can be placed into the digital world where they can be interacted with in all possible ways, but no, it wasn’t the highlight of the night, as cool as it may be, only a byline apparently.

Fortunately for us selected few, we DID get to see what was in store for us in time to come (more specifically, next Tuesday!) and to be honest, it’s something we’ve all been waiting for, a technology that may change the way we do things today, for example. What else would you expect of the brainchild between gianthouse Intel and leading WiMax provider P1?

I’ll leave the rest to your intelligent imagination 😉 Best person to come up with a caption for the picture above will win something exclusive next week, so feel free to show off your creativity for the funny picture above!

Ps for more info do visit www.whatisinside.com.my or follow me via Twitter at http://www.Twitter.com/spinzer by tomorrow if you want to know more!

Hint in video!

A sneak peek @ Fuji Finepix Real3D W1 camera

After the event we got to witness another incredible technology thanks to Intel’s tech man: the 3D camera! Here is a video I took on it, and random pictures too. Amazing, no?

Yeap you saw it right, that was a DOUBLE CMOS camera!

This is actually on 3D, but taken with a 2D iPhone 3GS camera 😛

@goldfries was one of the tech enthusiast who got so excited over it… or rather ALL of us lol!

This is the 3D glasses that looked soooo cool you would’t mind wearing it in public 😛

Yapthomas loving every single part of it 😛

By NVIDIA!

Thanks Intel and P1 for the invite, looking forward to see you guys again 😉

In the meantime, let me show off my Puma-style workstation to end this post, LOL!

See and download the full gallery on posterous

Stay tuned for more guys!

My personal haven with Joanne Kay

Today was amazing. Yesterday, Joanne Kay and I decided to go for a light holiday at the beach, and little did I know I was to visit Avilion, a 6-star resort located at Port Dickson which took my breathe away…

The view from lobby.

The water chalets, beautiful! You can hear the sounds of the ocean and really breath in nature as it really is (no, the beach here not polluted!)

A special bridal house here, perfect for wedding occasions! But first, money has to be earned la :p

The swimming pool… And WHAT an amazing swimming pool at that, too!

When we left, we took a ride nearby to eat the famous cendol and OMG it was so sedap! The green cendol was so smooth, coupled with the icy cold santan mixed with gula Melaka made it into something that is incomparable to KL’s chendol! A must try!

As you can see it’s filthy cheap too! Mind my language haha. Yes, roadside stall that’s worth your time.

Oh before you go, don’t forget the Ais Kacang too 😉

Well, needless to say we didn’t stay over due to pricey rates, but I will definitely come back when I can afford it, take the cruise and enjoy one of the bes Spa sessions around. Good luck to me 🙂

Sent and all pics taken from my iPhone
