#BloggeRestyle-d thanks to Restyle+ & @ACutAboveGroup!

So you know how we bloggers always think about how we should restyle our blogs to give it a fresh look? I mean, it’s always the same ol’ header, sidebars, columns etc etc. I added a few stuff like my cartoon figurine at the top (soon to be joined by my blogger-partner Jingy Veronique the Mermaid!) but essentially, they are all still the same!

But hey, suddenly A Cut Above (you know that popular professional salon founded by Datin Winnie Loo? 😀) came up with something pretty nifty: the #BloggeRestyle movement, where they aim to empower Malaysia’s blogger community by giving the bloggers themselves a good restyling session. I immediately said, I NEED THAT! What can you expect from a person who’s pretty much had the same hairstyle all his life? 😛

IMG_8166

And so I made my appointment and searched for the all new Restyle+ outlet at the all new Nu Sentral located at KL Sentral. For your information, Restyle+ is a little different from A Cut Above, where they target young folks who are looking for a totally refreshing hairstyle, and also different from Restyle (without the PLUS!) in a sense that they only provide organic solutions, thanks to their partnership with AVEDA!

Of course being the social entrepreneur I am, when I find out that not only are their treatments, hair colours etc are almost fully organic but that they also save the environment in more ways than one, I told myself this is the place to go. Heck, it’s definitely going to be better for my own scalp and hair too right?! Saving the world and the people, that’s the way to go 😛

Oh did I mention that their hair colour products are also not so damaging to your hair? Viva la Aveda for their vision to connect beauty, environment and well-being & of course Restyle+ for their professionalism & amazingly talented hairstylists 😀

Now check out how my hair transformed, and it’s only halfway in the process yo! haha. Check out the picture below for a larger version. DAMN COOL RIGHT!

Oh by the way, at Restyle+ relaxation and replenishment is the main focus of their service which is really good for those who have frequently stress-filled days. So can you imagine how I felt when they served their lovely Aveda tea on top of the extremely relaxing massage both on your hands and scalp whilst getting your hair washed? Perfection…

Basically how it works is that all Restyle+ customers will engage in a signature Aveda Ritual of Renewal, which may include: The Tea Ritual, a cup of comforting tea upon arrival; The Stress-Relieving Hand Ritual, a complimentary hand massage incorporating the senses soothing AvedaStress-Fix™ Body Lotion; the Stress-Relieving Neck and Shoulders Ritual, a 3-5 minute tension-taming massage of the neck and shoulders using Aveda Stress-Fix™ Body Lotion; and The Aroma Sensory Journey, a guided tour of scent, sensuality and memory, to help us discover the Aveda aroma that truly worked their wonders with me. I wonder how it’ll go with you?

Finally after a senior stylist hair cut, 3 hours of light bleaching for a full colour and Ash highlights and a full Invati treatment, this is the new empowered me. I actually look a lot thinner with this new… ME! For my hair length, the cut was about RM55, and the colouring ranged at RM180. The full Invati signature treatment which reduced itchiness in my scalp and for a healthier hair costed RM230, which is amazing considering all the stuff they did on me.

And that pretty much sums my experience at the all new Restyle+ outlet in partnership with AVEDA! Try it out, and if you’d like some discount to have your first try, give me a tweet at @spinzer and I’ll hook you up 🙂 Restyle+ services include cuts, color, men’s grooming and specialized treatments to condition hair, improve scalp health and texture treatments, so I think there’s pretty much something for any of you readers 😀

Are you now thinking of RESTYLE-ing your hair too? 😉

5 ways to watch #ThomasCup Finals MAS vs JPN!

Dear Malaysians,

It is indeed an amazing experience for our team to be in the finals for Thomas Cup 2014!

Team Malaysia will be against Japan at the finals today at 5.30pm and here’s how you all can show your support and send your wishes/prayer/hopes/dreams to our players in New Delhi, India!!!

Choice No. 1 – Mamak Stalls

mamak al safa

Bring RM5 and head to your favourite mamak for a glass of Teh O’ Ais and have a roti canai while watching the match. Be sure to book your place as early 5pm. Mamak nowadays come with big TV Screens and some even allow you to have good shisha 🙂 We are sure it’ll be full even by then!

Let me list down the few places you can’t miss out

1) Safiz Corner, Sri Hartamas

2) Al – Safa, Bandar Utama (generally all Al – Safa but I love the one in BU for they have Shisha

3) BRJ, Wangsa Maju

4) Pelita (All Outlets)

5) Nasi Kayu Kandar (All Outlets)

Share with me if you know your neighbourhood has better mamaks with big screens for the match!

Choice No.2 – McDonalds

The BIG M not only provide you an air conditioned area with their burgers and coke. Some even housed McCafe where you can grab a muffin and Latte. This is certainly the best spot if you have to bring your high maintenance partner who refuse to go to a mamak or open air food court to have a good time with your mates. Mcdonald’s provide free WI-FI where you can even share the latest status or your partner could surf and shop online (Talk about watching a match in style yet affordable).  Bear in mind that Mcdonald’s no longer provide free soft drinks refills, EACH refill would now cost RM0.50.

Choice No.3 – Open Aired Food Courts

If you prefer other food over the match, there’s always open aired food court that provides large TV Screens. Have your favourite Char Koey Teow or Mee Rebus while the Malaysian Team is in action!

My favourite is at Rasta’s. Yours?

Choice No. 4  – Friend’s House (Not yours so you don’t have to clean up :P)

photo (1)

This is my favourite hang out place at a bestie’s house! They are superb jolly and warmth couple! Here’s to my friend’s BUM! hahaha

Pick up your phone now and start gathering mates to either crash at your place for the match or your friend’s place who has the largest screen. As for those who are crashing in your mates’ places. Don’t be a kiam siap okay? Get ready some snack for all! Here are some I recommend =p

1) Twisties
2) Pizza
3) Pringles Chips
4) Coca Cola
5) Toppo (My recent favourite snack)
6) Hello Panda (nyom nyom nyom)
7) Green Tea

The list goes on and on… feel free to comment and give me ideas (I’m going to snack shopping)

PS – You can now watch it LIVE on these channels:

—> ASTRO ON THE GO APP  <–

(Exclusively Free for all Malaysians to watch the match! EVEN NON SUBSCRIBERS! YAY!)

– ASTRO Sports Channel 801 or Channel 829 for HD version
– RTM1 (thanks to Astro)

Choice No.5 – Pubs

For those who enjoy a malt drink or two (Just like me). Here are a few spots I located that sells cheaper drinks all night long at a flat rate

1) Happer, Damansara Jaya

2) BarFly

Anyhow you can always have a cheaper drink at 5.30pm as it’s still in the Happy Hour time range for most pubs 🙂

Quick Facts:

1) Chong Wei Feng has won all his matches in his maiden Thomas Cup Tournament

2) Doubles  Tan Boon Heong & Hoon Thien How had beaten the World’s best men’s double pair, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan over 21-19, 8-21, 23-21

3) Japan China’s Domination of 5 years win at the Thomas Cup. (Surprising eh?)

4) Malaysia has been on a 22 years drought since the last winning in 1992.

Now my friends, LET’S CHEER THEM ON!!!

The New Trend of Eating Out Healthily at KLGCC

Hole 15, East_DSC9072
The exquisite Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC) is nestled on the luxurious hilltop of Bukit Kiara and only a short distance for the capital city. Members gain access to two beautiful 18-hole courses, each with its unique features. Members also enjoy a host of amenities ranging from a fully-automated driving range to that largest Pro Shop in Southeast Asia to VIP royal suites. In short, KLGCC is not just a golf course and country club, it’s an experience.

But while the luscious greens and the intriguing animal sanctuaries are a huge draw for many, there are also impressive things going on in the elegant kitchen and dining room under the talented hands of the KLGCC culinary team.

Inspired by the Ministry of Health’s message about leading healthier lifestyles, Executive Chef Arnold Kwok and his team designed a new, fresh menu full of entrees, salads, smoothies and juices that are meant to showcase tastes from around the world. I recently had the opportunity to sample a few of their delectable dishes. I did so with an open mind, as country club food is usually rife unhealthy finger foods.

First up, the ever-delicious banana nut muffin. There’s not much else to say than, “I loved it!” Moist, but not mushy with a delicate real banana taste, I could have eaten a dozen by myself, but alas, I had to share.
Later on, I dove into some Almond Zucchini Bread. It really is THE perfect breakfast bread. Not too sweet and such a healthier option than greasy breakfast meats.

Next, I got to try the Chicken Broccoli Frittata. The flavors were well done, both the chicken and broccoli cooked to perfection, but I’m just not a frittata fan it seems.

I moved onto the Tuna Guacamole Salad. Just the name sparked my interest and I was not let down. It was amazing. They sprinkle it lightly with hints of balsamic and it really complements the guacamole.

Then I got to taste something that I might just have dreams about for the rest of my life. The Salmon with Warm Tomato Relish was, hands down, my favorite dish. I can’t say enough about it. It felt light, yet dense with flavor. Love the addition of the olives and cappers.

Next up was the Seared Beef Strip Loin. I smelled it before I saw it and it was an excellent dish. It was served well done, and I would have preferred it medium well, but that’s something that can be easily remedied. It was also served with sweet potato mash and that was a nice surprise as well.

Then they lead me toward the Thai Green Curry Chicken. This dish was one of my favorites by far. It’s definitely for those that like spicy food, which I do. They pair it with cauliflower rice which is such a healthier option than regular rice.

Then it was time for drinks! I got to try a large variety and was pleasantly surprised by many.
– Spicy Apple: very, very good.
– Mango Berry: No added sugar and lots of berry taste. Loved it!
– Turmeric Veggie: This one might be an acquired taste. It’s definitely a super healthy drink and turmeric is known as a pain reliever. I found the turmeric a bit too strong for my taste.
– Citrus Kiwi: A bright, gorgeous green drink. I definitely was not expecting that. I loved it and would have gladly had several more glasses.

And as all good meals must simply end on a sweet note, I got to indulge in some delicious desserts. But as this is a healthier menu, the dessert options follow suit and stay in the healthy category as well.

First up was the Coconut Ice Cream: I had two helping of this. It was that delicious! It was smooth and the flavor was so light and pleasant, but I wasn’t left with a heavy feeling that I sometimes get with traditional ice cream.
Lastly, I got to sample the Sweet Potato Pie. This pie had some of the best crust I’ve ever had. The filling was smooth and good, but it’s not really a dessert I’d go back for.

This tasting session experience at the KLGCC was phenomenal. Bravo to the culinary team and to Executive Chef Arnold Kwok for creating a large menu full of healthier, delicious options.
