Golden Fortune Cheesy Crown Pizza @ Pav

CNY in pav

As Chinese New Year looms upon us all, major shopping malls have just stored away their Christmas decorations, to be replaced by even more fancy CNY festive decorations! One such scene is the scene you got above.

the outside

It wasn’t long before I got caught into this one in, shouting among shouts abt their new pizza called the Golden Fortune Cheesy Crown. LIKE WTH RIGHT!
It didn’t take me long to get seated and the next thing i knew, the waitress was called, pizza ordered and there I was alone thinking how was i supposed to finish a regular pizza all by myself.

landscope poster

This was a sneak preview on how the pizza looks. Needless to say it opened up the dam in my mouth.

poster

I stole this menu to put it up in my office cubicle, cause it’s all cute and that. Don’t you think so? That tantalizing shot of the pizza coupled with the design of the meny, so CNY-ish!

me looking

I even tested taking photos while waiting, just so that there won’t be any awkwardness with people staring later, wondering what on earth was I trying to do. On hindsight my actions could have made them think that I was stealing their pizza idea!

the pizza

Finally the arrival of the main guest commenced, and there I was staring down at it. Somehow I really, really missed those days when we were served pizza inside these black pans, now that’s what I call authenticity! Then I reminded myself this was a flat crust pizza. DARN. I really love thick pan crusts. While most people throw them away I actually gobble these down in glee!

size of my hand

Just for comparison sake I took one piece out of the circle, and hold it up against my palm. As you can see, regular ain’t so regular after all, the portion was pretty small! But I was still fascinated by the shape of the whole damn thing lol. Filled with chunks of tuna, crabmeat stick and other seafood-y stuff, how appetizing to!

tempura

At least one thing’s for sure, their tempura prawns were generously scattered throughout the pizza. If there were just a miserable small number of it, us as the customers would have noticed and suddenly prosperity wouldn’t have sounded like its meaning should have now, would it? lol

makan

Without further ado I took my first bite at it. You know what blew me away? The tangy mayonnaise, pineapple and the prawn tempura! What a combination of flavour! I was so certain I could finish the whole damn thing, nevermind that the base wasn’t made out of the typical tomato-based sauce, or that the little cheese-pouch crust looks too heavy for full consumption by just one person!

cheese chilli

But it was, and soon I started trying out how to finish them without feeling over-powered by those powerfully packed pouch of cheesie goodness. This includes adding chilli on top of it. This wasn’t too bad, kinda adds to the sweetness actually. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth but I do like a wonderful mix of flavours to tantalize my taste buds!

yummy cheese

Though that didn’t fully do the trick for me. Soon I was getting bored with the taste and texture. Too much of the same thing does that to you. I proceeded to just take really yummy shots of them individual pieces without eating them.

close up of cheese

Already in my head I knew I had to take these away, and maybe consume it in the office. Which I did, but unfortunately even time didn’t help; the bungkused portion was eventually brought home and stuffed in the fridge, which still remains in the same position until today. Guess it was reaaallly too filling for one person, and now that i’ve tried it, albeit too much, I probably wouldn’t wanna taste it again anytime soon.

Lesson learned? Do NOT attempt to have a regular sized pizza on your own because it’s not that you won’t be able to finish it, you’d just feel so “muak” for eating the same thing over and over again that your body will reject it simply altogether lol.

side res

That was about it really. I love this place though, one of the few Pizza Huts in town to actually look classy.

glass

Then again, everything at Pavilion was classy. Just tag the word “Signature” on it and you get a 6-star design with all our fast-food restaurants established in it. Kinda interesting if you took note of this fact a while back πŸ™‚ And you would do good to notice that McDonalds couldn’t be part of this plan, I wonder why πŸ˜›

In any case, the total amount spent was RM30-ish, definitely way over budget! I was fine though, cause I really just wanted to give it a test try, and doing it alone was kind of cool, with all those waiter and waitresses staring at you thinking if you were some kind of bigshot. Even other customers couldn’t resist taking a peek on this guy who was camwhoring while enjoying his food, as if he was in his own world. Which I was really πŸ˜€

There’s just something about CNY that affects everyone, and for this case, it was for the better. And with this entry, it’ll mark a season of CNY dinners for time to come. I’d like to wish everyone good luck in trying to slim down before putting on noticeable weight at the end of the day!!

The Hip&Hop Colleague I never knew

Katherine and I had always wanted to visit the Think You Got Skillz competition for ages, but we never got around to doing it until the 4th one if I’m not wrong. (There’s the sixth one coming up, check it out here!). Held at the Cloth & Clef, we finally confirmed our attendance and before we know it, her and her sister Sharon got into my car and we zoomed straight to Changkat Bukit Bintang without any clue on how this thing supposedly works!

hihi

As per usual, an obligatory shot of the girls with their surroundings. If I’m not wrong it was their first time on that street, touted as one of the busiest night life in KL. I had the honour to show them around (though I was lacking the night life experience, gotta give me a chance lar, I just got back from London aight!)

Deutsche house

Deutsche house with their beautiful lights and interesting interiors. One day I’d like to get in to further research the place. Oh, did you know I’m into interior design as well? Betcha didn’t know that πŸ˜‰

the girls

Here’s a better look at the girls. One of them is actually my colleague! Now this should quell the rumours that Investment Bankers aren’t cool AND hot people (what an oxymoron!)

kat

When we arrived at Cloth & Clef, it barely started. Guess 11pm isn’t what you call “on time”, rather, the party only starts past midnight! Which was kinda an issue for us, since we both have to work the very next day πŸ˜› Here’s Kat posing with the wall.

sis

We made it a point for each of us to do it too. Here’s Sharon’s pose. And unfortunately for you (or fortunate for some!) I’m not going to publish mine, cause it’s horrible! Instead, please guide your eyesight on this wonderful photo of me and Eng Hian, which I think is the best photo of me up till now! A close up on the post to come, I promise πŸ˜›

me and eng

Hahahahahahahha!! Anyway, let’s get on to the main gist of this post lol. Sorry for my impromptu vanity shot.

christmas tree

Since we were too early we decided to get ourselves some drinks and grub. Havannah was our best bet, munching on their pizza and sipping cocktails sharing stories proved to be a great time waster until midnight calls! We couldn’t resist taking photo with the christmas tree though. Lol. So yea you should know that this happened quite some time ago. Like, last year πŸ˜›

on the mirror

We did hang out in other pubs just to take a look at the design, and here’s 21 (or something like that) for you: a cafe full of mirrors, heaven for all vain people!
Three of us inclusive. Can you spot me in this photo? Or are you too easily distracted by gorgeous faces πŸ˜›

sister

A little time left to spare allowed us to take a few artistic shots. Here’s Sharon being a model for stairs background!

kat poser

And here’s Kat doing her thang! She’s pro hip & hop yo, I kid you not!

three of us

I took a dare to shoot this particular shot… Leaving your camera on somebody’s car, exposed for the world to see and with a snatchability score of 9 out of 10 isn’t something you want to do everyday, but at least we got a group shot coming in nicely! πŸ˜€

flash!

Anyway we went back to Cloth & Clef and found out some group of people were already gathering inside. Luckily for us it wasn’t too stuffy and we managed to get a few shots of ourselves. Like, literally. Here’s Kat trying to blind me. (but came out with some cool effect, no?)

mugshots

We were on the roll. We took a mugshot ourselves. Pretty clever eh? Ignore the pimple. NOW!

the event

The event itself finally took place well past midnight. Music were spinning, rapping was going on (and there we were, at awe with what our own Malaysian can do at a competition like this!) and the crowd, a mix of international and local coolios, were rocking up the place!

Even Kat swears the Singaporeans don’t do as well as we do!

the DJ

At the end of it all, some Indian hero took the winning spot, and I have to say he was good, if not for all the swear words he put in each line of his rap. The DJ who organised it was none other than the man himself up there. Kat took the opportunity to hang out late for this photo, and I’m sure she’ll keep it for years to come πŸ™‚

So that was really it. We went home pretty late, took a quick bath and fortunately woke up for work the next day, and the both of us inconspicuously blended into our workplace, looking for the world as a typical ordinary investment banker, ready to slave into our work, without so much a flicker of interest from our colleagues that we were secretly major hiphoppers by night πŸ˜‰

Oh, I just needed to publish this photo. Ingenious really. It’s called “Twin Half Boiled Egg on Toast”. Get it right next time, Michy dear πŸ˜‰

Yummy? πŸ˜›

Pepper Lunch @ Pavilion

teaser

The above is their all famous Beef Pepper Rice which I ordered from the new (well not so new now lol) Pepper Lunch restaurant at Pavilion, where all the food stores are. Based in Japan, the dishes remind me of Korean’s Bibimbup (which I cooked once myself). How to locate it?

front sign

Easy. It really stands out so there shouldn’t be a problem looking for this colourful restaurant. It was complete with a widescreen TV showing you how to perfectly cook your ready-made meals to perfection. The intended effect was right on the spot; it made crave to try it out.

menu

Even if it means blowing a hole in my pocket. The dishes here are on the pricey side for a fast food-style selection. Nevertheless there were quite a number of interesting selections, but upon recommendation I went for the original dish that made Pepper Lunch what it is today.

table 28

After paying for my order I was given a counter just like everyone else. What happens is that at the kitchen the dish gets prepared immediately to be placed on a sizzling stone bowl in such a way that when we receive it, it would take at least 10 minutes for the dish to be well done. I was anticipating this when….

the owner

I noted a bunch of japanese people who were talking beside me. They looked like businessmen and women and when what looked like a VIP came through the entrance they were ushered to the table beside me. I suppose the guy who’s looking towards my camera should be one of the owners.

the bill

Here’s the bill for my meal… A little pricey overall don’t you think?

Anyway, it wasn’t long before the dish came, all sizzling and ever so aromatic.

comes with soup

First thing I did was to open the soup cover to take a whiff at their soup. There was a choice between soup and a drink, and I opted for soup instead. It was a tad bit salty but I guess you just cannot escape Ajinomoto wherever you go (apart from good ol’ home cooking, that is hehe)

comes sprotected

The bowl comes with a protective barrier so that bits of rice and oil won’t jump out on you. Kinda smart if you think about it. Gave it a quirky look that you’ll tend to remember for a long time haha. Must think about these things when I finally open a restaurant of my own :Dd

raw

As you can see, the contents were still raw showing that it’s freshly cooking. The aroma is just wonderful and simply amazing as fats from the beef gets burnt into the sizzling oil, giving flavour to the rice.

closer up

This is a closer look at that dish. My camera’s lens keeps fogging up but it was well worth the shot. I was salivating then, so close to all the action triggered my extrasensitive nose to breathe in delicious air around it πŸ˜€

garlic soy saucehoney brown sauce

Now, Pepper Lunch’s specialty is their sauces as well. They have two main sauces which are the Garlic soy sauce as well as the honey brown sauce. The trick is to add the right amount of each to the dish, along with pepper (more if you want) to create the tasty dish to your own liking. I poured ample amount into it for maximum flavour without it being too salty.

pour sauce

So the magic starts as we mix the contents together, just imagine the aroma of cooking beef fats with the sauces, all stirred with sweet corn and rice to go around…

mix well

MAGIC

piece of cooked meat

The meat cooking so excellently. I love mine to be not too cooked, just right juicy πŸ˜‰

mixde

And it’s done! Eating it while it’s hot allows for maximum flavour. Of course, don’t burn your tongue πŸ˜‰ I added some soup into it to cool it down.

empty

And finished up the bowl in no time. Needless to say the portion was quite heavy and I felt so full. That was the day I wanted to cut my hair too but I think I had a little too much rice and got so sleep that I wanted to go back to catch some much needed sleep… Haven’t been sleeping for sometime lol. But I hate sleeping. I really do. it’s like the biggest waste of time! Unfortunately my body doesn’t agree with me sigh. OK i’m being sidetracked haha anyway that’s the end of my tasting session with Pepper Lunch.

My honest review? Once and it’s enough for me. A little too pricey to come back again but should an occasion occur, I would love to try their steaks, apparently it’s quite promising! Anyone up for it? πŸ˜‰

My 24th Swinging at Bar Club

I was afraid that my first 24th birthday in Malaysia after 4 years would be a dismal one, filled with lots of self-reflection instead of my usual crazy nights after nights of birthday celebrations in London back in those days. Man, those days were filled with lots of drinking, surprises, house after house visits and lotsa lunches and dinners… something I always look forward to when I’m not playing games being an introvert at home, like right now πŸ˜› (I’m playing Suikoden V, which explains why you hardly see me online nowadays lol)

Me and the cannon

Well, this time wasn’t an exception much to my great surprise πŸ˜€ Keat Kuang, the man behind the scenes thought that it would be great to throw a Tock party filled with random people and friends from across all groups, enough to fill up the club at Bar Club, along Heritage Row. Unfortunately he didn’t reach the target, I think he thought too highly of me already lol. In fact, one random friend blogged about it saying that he found out that almost 80% of the people who came didn’t even know who I was lol!! I’m not going to post his link here cause it contains a very, very bad shot of me doing things I shouldn’t be doing (No Alex, no!)

Me and my darlings

These two darlings were my driver for the day… They were so awesome, cause they didn’t actually need to stay thoughout the party but they did anyway! Mainly cause they’re scared no one else can take me home lol… But I appreciate them so much! Those are the two girls on my right, Kylie and Michy. Hong Lee has always been there for me, and when I saw her come (one of the earliest) I was soooo elated! Yes, she’s the hottie with me πŸ˜‰ Sigh, i love these girls πŸ™‚

first red with michy

Well taking a look at the first picture in this post, that, my friends, was a Cannon, large enough to kill a donkey, nay, a whale! Apart from that there were 11 other bottles of whisky, vodka and others placed at every table there meant for the guest list. What can I say? The bloody party itself costed a whopping RM7,000!! Yeah, the whole point was to get me drink and for them to enjoy themselves thoroughly lol, which I wish they did πŸ™‚ The picture above is a result of a few drinks around the bars ok… One glass per table, and there was about 5 tables nearby my VIP area already!!

with qi zhen

Some friends couldn’t make it due to unforeseen circumstances, but since they told me beforehand it was awesome. Some, however, were friends I haven’t seen for the longest time! Here’s Qi Zhen giving me a toast for a great 24th year ahead of me πŸ˜€ But until now missing in action pulak… Typical Qi Zhen πŸ˜›

Ewe tiam, keat, azlan, zul with brownie!

Others who made it include Ewe Tiam whom most of you commonly know as Boss Stewie aka Timothy Tiah (thanks bro, for coming all the way from Subang from another party!), Keat Kuang who of course is the mastermind… until now I don’t know how to face him for all he’s done for me lol (i haven’t called him since that day until now T__T), Azlan Shah the gatherer of our College friends and Zul, the ever fantastic DJer who mixes the right music for me!

Oh and I was holding the brownie cake that Azlan made for me! Not often you get something baked for you by a male, no less. Love you honey πŸ˜‰

vincent and first sign of down

I started feeling pretty hit by the alcohol soon enough lol, as you can see here haha.. Vincent’s messing with me along with Azlan, and I doubt I could remember much after that, cause the next few pictures are taken without me realising what was going on haha! But I wasn’t out yet though, takes more than that to kill me πŸ˜‰

my brownie cake!

Here’s my chocolate brownie cake which I remembered scooping with my bare hands to give my poor friends… I wonder if they ate it πŸ˜›

aziz ayman

Aziz Ayman came as well! It’s been a long time since I last saw him, and even then we were at his house in London playing the Wii… Awesome times!

me crazt with zulhariz

Zul, my emo soul. My lightsaber. My music healer. He’s the damn good Trance DJ that I know (I know personally la, cannot compare with DJ Tiesto and the likes lol)
Thanks for coming bro. Thanks a lot πŸ™‚

my darlings who took me home

At this point I think I puked haha! That’s why I’m no longer that red anymore, and here are my darlings who’s my pillar of support, who carried me all the way to the car and fetched me home. I’m not gonna explain what happened after that cause it’s embarassing. No Kylie. No Michy. No no no you better not saaay anythingggg!!!

still ok going strong posing

This is when I sobered up a little before starting to drink again. If I can pose, it means I’m fine!

intro fuad

And that’s when Fuad came. No, not came as in, came. Ugh nevermind! But yeah he came, and that’s when all hell breaks lose. This man has never failed to make me drunk EVERY FREAKING TIME, for the past 4 years! I love him man, he’s always there… Times when we hang out at his place, me staying over loads, us playing football, the Wii, simply talking crap, lying on the bed together watching **rn. Man. Thank God he’s around πŸ™‚ But then again, thank the devil he killed me again T___T

fuad doing something with me

After a few drinks with him, this is what he did to me.

fuad doing something with me, why michy dun help!acting all innocent!!!

And it didn’t stop there. I don’t think I need to elaborate on this action. Michy is sooooo evil!! Michy how could you watch without even helping me! I’m being raped for goodness sake!!!

down and high

This is me. Dead. I think the next think I knew I was at home already, sleeping like a pig.

—-

I think I embarrassed myself too much. Maybe I should continue the story another time sigh. Oh well, this is one for the memory, and one hell of a memory I do not ever want to forget. Thank you guys, for everything. Thanks to the usual bunch (Wen Tao, Ju Ni, Adrian, Emily, Stef) for coming. Ok except Tao, he got sick… but we did celebrate my bday night together πŸ™‚ Thanks Cheng Chun, for making it to the party. Thanks Joshua, for coming though there were compliments, but you still came anyway and I’m damn grateful. Thanks Soon Seng, for even though you were so busy, you still made it to the party bringing in the girls who I don’t even know lol, and left shortly after. Thank you to the countless people who wished me that night, through MSN, SMS, Facebook, my blog, Friendster, Gmail/Gtalk, Plurk, in-my-face ™ and over my drunk body.

And thank you God, for blessing me with such an awesome life. I wouldn’t want to be anyone else but me πŸ™‚ You’re awesome!
